The European Federation of Building Societies (EFBS) is an association of credit and other institutions promoting and supporting housing finance and is one of the leading European federations in the financial services, mortgage and home loan sector. By promoting the idea of affordable home ownership, the Federation contributes to the goals of the Lisbon Agenda to create a sustainable framework and economic development for all European citizens.
With its foundation on 29th August 1962, the EFBS was the first federation on housing finance institutions on the European level. During the last 40 years the European Federation of Building Societies represented the interests of its members from all over Europe and supported the idea of home ownership on the European level. The EFBS has more than 50 members throughout Europe and the average of the market share on the relevant market of the EFBS members is around 30%.
